THE RETURN OF SQUASH (Sat 25 July)

Following the recent announcement by the government that indoor sports facilities can reopen from Saturday 25th July we are pleased to be able to confirm that our squash courts will once again be available. Squash England has issued some guidelines that we MUST stick to. They can be found at https://www.englandsquash.com/backtosquash. It's strongly recommended that you familiarise yourself with the safety measures outlined in the attachment to this week's newsletter .

COVID-19 TRACK AND TRACE - IMPORTANT

In order to ensure the club remains the safest possible environment to play Tennis, and soon Squash, it is now vital we ask all members to do the following:

When booking courts please be sure to select your opponent(s)
When playing in socials, team practice evenings, or just visiting please complete the sign-in book located behind the bar, or in the kitchen during non-bar hours
Observe the temporary non- members only rule
In the event of yourself or anyone you live with contracting COVID-19 please email the club committee : graftoncommittee@gmail.com

These simple measures will enable the club to support NHS Track and Trace, and give us the best chance of keeping courts open should one of our members contract COVID-19.

SOCIALS AND TEAM PRACTICES BACK ON

In a welcome revision to their guidelines the LTA is once again permitting team nights and socials. These will resume from Sunday 26th.

Social Tennis:
Sundays 2-4pm
Wednesdays 6:30- 10pm

Team Practices:
Mondays 6:30 - 10pm for Men’s 4ths & Ladies' 2nds / 3rds
Tuesdays 6:30 - 10pm for Men’s 1sts / 2nds / 3rds & Ladies 1sts

All players are asked to observe all social distancing rules, and use sanitisation stations.

LAST CHANCE TO ENTER THE GRAFTON CLUB CHAMPS!

A final reminder that entries to the Men's, Ladies and Mixed doubles as well as the Legends and Legendettes are closing this Sunday 26th July . You can enter by using the links below:

Men's Doubles: graftonclubchamps@gmail.com?subject=Mens_Doubles_2020
Ladies' Doubles: graftonclubchamps@gmail.com?subject=Ladies_Doubles_2020
Mixed Doubles: graftonclubchamps@gmail.com?subject=Mixed_Doubles_2020
Legends: Men's Over 50 Singles (eligible if 50 in 2020): graftonclubchamps@gmail.com?subject=Mens_O50_Singles_2020
Legendettes: Ladies' Over 45 Singles (eligible if 45 in 2020): graftonclubchamps@gmail.com?subject=Ladies_O45_Singles_2020

If you don’t have a doubles partner, you can still enter by the links letting us know and we will do our best to partner you up.

Plate competitions will run for all doubles tournaments meaning at least two matches per person. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, if you have a bye in the first round of the main draws we may not be able to enter you in the Plate.

Adult entry fees are: £5 per person per event (so that’s £10 per doubles pair) if paid for before the draw (or £6 per person per event; £12 per doubles pair thereafter).

All going to plan, we will be holding a live draw (including the draws of the Men’s and Ladies’ singles plate competitions) outside the clubhouse the evening of Tuesday 28th July. The draw will be published online shortly after.

We will be operating a ‘no pay no play’ policy therefore please ensure you are a fully paid up member and have paid your tournament fees by bank transfer before the draw. (Grafton Tennis and Squash Club sort code 20-21-78; account number 70408271 – please use your name as a reference).

Please note that in order to follow guidance and comply with LTA guidelines, we may need to alter the format of the tournament and in worst case cancel at short notice. However, if everyone continues to comply with government advice we expect to be powering ahead to some exciting finals in early Autumn.

If you have any questions, please email graftonclubchamps@gmail.com
