CALLING ALL MEN - GRAFTON NEEDS YOU (Sat 7 April from 10am)
The summer season is fast approaching and with four teams in the Surrey Doubles and two in the Team Tennis (formerly Aegon) leagues we have a lot of competitive tennis to look forward to. But with a lot of team matches we could do with some resilience in our squads and so we are repeating our Men’s Team Day on Saturday 7th April (1000-1400).* Come down any time between these times and we will get you on court.
With singles and doubles being played in the Team Tennis leagues, we will try to have a mix on the day. We have booked courts 1-4, so envisage some champs tiebreak singles and ‘Fast Four’ doubles and so you will be guaranteed a decent hit. Whilst we’re most desperate for players for the Team Tennis, we’d also very much welcome anyone interested in playing for Grafton so we have strong squads for all the teams.
The Team Day will roll straight into the American Doubles at 1400 and we would encourage as many hardy souls to stick it out for the whole day to kick the summer off in true Grafton spirit.
No need to let us know in advance if you’re coming, but for future reference, team captains are:
David Millar (Men’s 1st Team)
Ben Kelly (Men’s 2nd & 3rd Team, Surrey)
Phil Edbrooke (Men’s 2nd Team, Team Tennis)
Paul Flatters (Men’s 4th Team)
* Ladies, fear not. A ladies team day will be arranged, date tbc.
SUMMER CLUB CHAMPS STARTS TODAY
Last Wednesday the summer club champ tournaments were drawn in front of a very excited crowd at the club. The tournament starts TODAY and you can see the draw and your first round opponents at grafton.mycourts.co.uk (click on the Tournament tab). The draw is also on the noticeboard in the club house.
Remember to play by your play by date (first round: 29th April 2018) or it will be a flip of the coin. We don't want to do that, so get organising!
If you have problems with court availability, we have booked courts 1 & 2 from 7pm on a Monday and Tuesday night which are allocated for tournament matches. Please email graftonclubchamps@gmail.com by the Sunday if you need a court. If not needed, they will be released back in to the general booking system.
New for this year: We have created a tournament Whatsapp group for people to commentate, post photos and results. If you would like to join, please email your name and number to graftonclubchamps@gmail.com.
Good luck to everyone and we’ll see you on the 21st July for the climax of the summer tournament, whether you’re playing or supporting.

EASTER SUPER SOCIAL (Easter Monday from 2pm onwards)
The clocks have changed, the evenings are getting longer, an extra long weekend is coming-- what's more, we have an Easter Super Social Tennis session to look forward to!
Get in practice for the American Doubles tournament, and enjoy some Easter treats from 2pm this Easter Monday.
