It's not too late to enter the 2019/20 Squash Handicap Champs, so make sure you sign up behind the bar! There's a pub quiz to look forward to, as well as plenty of other items in this week's broadcast, so do read on:

2019/20 WINTER MIXED!

You missed out on having your name on the board. You missed out on etching your name into Fox Trophy folkore... or maybe you haven't missed out at all...Regardless,it's time to write your name in the snow as the very popular Winter Mixed returns!
If you thought last year was nuts, brace yourself as we're about to unleash a wave of madness upon Grafton.

All the nonsense is back and we've added some more! So please:
1. Sort your partner (if don’t have one, don’t worry we can help. Just get in touch, email below).
2. Enter by emailing graftonmixed@gmail.com or putting your name in the folder behind the bar.
3. Pay £10 per pair at the bar and note that you've paid.

NB. Entry deadline 17th October . Tournament starts as soon as possible after that.
AND…. Finals Day will be on 21 March – win or lose all participants will play on Finals Day (even if you lost all your matches)!

There are only 40 spots for grabs. So don't delay signing up. Good luck and most importantly have fun!!!

If you're new to the club, or have simply forgotten, then let us remind you that the Winter Mixed is a friendly mixed doubles tournament running from October to March. You play around 5 group matches up until February and then play another few matches up to March. No matter if you lose, you get to keep on playing. It's a fun tournament. There's a lot of nonsense and nothing is taken too seriously.

MARVELLOUS CHARITY QUIZ NIGHT (Wed 18 Sept, 9pm)

Hooray - after a brief Summer hiatus, the quiz returns!!! This one will be a little bit special. In October our very own, Whitney, Lee and Josh (no surnames needed) will be doing the Palace to Palace bike ride. That’s 45 miles, from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Palace. This will almost certainly be completed with a hangover knowing these three ‘award winners’... so let's support them, and come on down to the quiz!

FAST FOURS TENNIS (5 Oct, 11am)

Inaugural Grafton Fast Fours Tennis! 5th October 11 am start time.
£10 includes brunch, balls and banter
Four game matches - tie-break to four points at 2-2
Sudden Death Deuce
No Service Lets - if it goes in, it's in play
No breaks between ends
Short games, fast action, round-robin play
Players will be grouped into similar abilities.

Grafton Wine Tasting (Fri 11 Oct, 7pm)

Welcome to a further edition of the Grafton wine tasting evening, where you will be able
to sip and slurp your way through an array of wines chosen by YOU, the participants.

Cost: £25 per head, includes all wines and a light supper, with ALL money raised going to the club’s coffers.

Indicative format of evening (which may change subject to your choices):-

Short introduction on wine given by your host (Rodney Toop)

  • A flight of 3 Champagne / sparkling wines
  • A flight of 2 or 3 whites
  • “Mystery” white wine with a prize for answering the quiz correctly
  • Light supper (served with a red)
  • A flight of 2 lighter reds
  • A flight of 3 heavier reds
  • Port / Sauternes with a small cheese selection. A further short quiz on the “mystery” cheese with a prize

As this is a subsidised event (ie provided free to the club), preference will be given to club members. If space permits we will open to non-members also- thanks

Normal Club House Opening Hours Return.

Whilst we try to keep the Club House open as much as possible, please note standard opening hours are as follows:

Monday:- Thursday 6pm – 11pm
Friday: Closed
Saturday: Closed
Sunday : 6pm-9pm

If you plan to play outside of these times and require lights please ensure you either pre-purchase tokens or bring enough change (£1 coins) to purchase them from the token machine on the bar.

Access to the club house and squash courts is available via the key pad lock on the back door to the club house and squash court building. The access code is C1469

For security purposes we kindly ask all members to observe the close door notices.

  • Login and check you email address is correct.
  • Contact Us if you changed your email address.
