Greetings Graftonites, Last week we sent out a call for the men of the Club to step up to the baseline, so to speak. Now, more than ever, it seems that our Club needs each and every one of us. Do read on: - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - PUB CRAWL (see attachment) - WINTER TENNIS TOURNAMENTS DEADLINE - BOYS' DAY OUT - DATES FOR YOUR DIARY ***If you wish to put an announcement in next Monday’s broadcast, the only way to do so is by sending your broadcast to graftoncomms@gmail.com by Friday 6pm.*** Volunteers Needed Good people of Grafton. This great club is what it is thanks to the energy, time, enthusiasm (athleticism?) of its members. And now we need your help. One the pinnacles of the calendar is the Tennis Summer Champs, and this year we're looking for a couple of volunteers to help run one of the Tournaments. Pub Crawl Speaking of the energy, enthusiasm and athleticism of our members- please join us for Grafton's first Pub Crawl of the year, on Saturday 4th March (please note the amended date). Clapham Old Town pubs as follows: - 6.30pm start off in The Sun - 7.30pm we skip to The Calf - 9.30pm you’ll find us in The Jam Tree - 10.30pm we stagger to The Rose & Crown We will post a progress tracker on Facebook on the night so you can join us. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible! Winter Tennis Finals It's meant to be warming up (Doris notwithstanding), which can only mean that the Winter Mixed Doubles and Handicap Singles tournaments are really hotting up. We're at the Quarter-Final stage of the singles and the deadline for doubles group matches is looming so let's try a final push and get out on court! Winter Tournaments Finals Day will be Saturday 18th March. We plan to have the semis and finals of both doubles (A and B) and the singles final all on the same day. Times tbc but make sure you're down to support and play a little social even if you're not one of the lucky finalists. Men's Team Tennis Day Gentlemen, the team trials day will no longer be squad specific. It’ll be a chance for everyone to mix in and let the team captains get an idea of who should play where. This will allow us to put out the strongest teams available. Men's Team Day on Saturday 11 March, 1200-1600 will hopefully be an opportunity to play some friendly/competitive tennis. If you can’t come for all of it, try and come for some of it. The idea is to try and find the best team squads for the coming campaigns. Instead of separating people into squads we will be having a general mix in from the start and slowly start structuring the matches as the afternoon progresses. Hopefully a few people who don't normally play for the teams get the chance to show US what they can do. Nothing is pre-decided, we just want the most competitive squads we can put together and get an idea of our strength in depth. So we have an idea of numbers, if you are planning on coming down can you let David know at (David.i.a.millar@googlemail.com).
