NEWSLETTER - POST LOCKDOWN GRAFTON (Week of 11 May 2020)

Greetings Graftonites,

Thanks to Fliss, Andy, Dani and Kaaren for hosting a fun and entertaining quiz last night! If you didn't have a chance to hear the latest from Boris, then here are the highlights:

- No top-flight sports till at least 1 June. But given our eating and drinking of late, we don't reckon that necessarily applies to Grafton.

- The Club remains closed to tennis and squash and will stay closed until we have the official green light from the appropriate government bodies. This may happen as soon as this Wednesday. We must remain compliant. The health and safety of everyone is our top priority.

- Expect further updates this week about how we can return to the courts and use the club facilities in the safest way possible.

FREE LIGHTS AND LADIES' CHANGING FACILITIES

As the lockdown rumbles on – we wanted to reassure you that we continue to monitor the situation with regards to re-opening sections of the club when it is safe to do so. Guidelines from the LTA and Squash England will be our main point of reference in this regard.

As with the vast majority of businesses, the Covid-19 pandemic will place a certain degree of short / medium-term uncertainty on the financial landscape of the club. That said, we are keen to ensure that we do everything we can responsibly do to represent the fact that the club will have been inaccessible to members for a period of time. With this in mind, we hope that you will be pleased to hear that on reopening, the club will be dropping all squash light fees for a period of 3 months. Tennis players fear not, tennis light fees will be dropped for 3 months commencing 1st October .

Many of you may also recall completing the club survey at the beginning of the year. While the uncertainty mentioned above may require us to reassess the timing of some of our proposed investment programs, we are very pleased to announce that we have signed off on the full refurbishment of the Ladies' changing facilities . We are in the process of finalising plans and approaching contractors and once this is complete full details will be made available. Please be reassured we remain in a good financial position.

We hope you will agree that this goes some way to striking a reasonable balance between keeping the club moving forward and, providing some level compensation for all members during this difficult and uncertain time.

On another note, please stop by and have a look at our renewed and refreshed web site. Many thanks to Peter Gray for all the hard work in pulling this together for us.

HOME SUPPORT FOR GRAFTON

As you may be aware, the Grafton Revenue and Development Team is looking for alternative revenue streams and we have found an easy one that we can all be part of from our homes right now and beyond.

Easy Fundraising allows donations to our club whilst we do our usual online shopping from a whole range of retailers such as Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Argos, Ebay, plus travel companies such as booking.com and Expedia, even your insurance!

It’s really very simple to sign up via this link and pick Grafton as your cause:

https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/graftontennissquashclub/?utm_campaign=raise-more&utm_content=gs-e1

Once you have an account, the next time you are shopping online, go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk , search for your retailer which will link you to their site, and shop as normal. The retailer makes a donation to Grafton!

There is even a leaderboard as to who is the biggest online shopping addict!

Thanks for your support!
