Back to squash - please read instructions

PLEASE READ IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLAY SQUASH AT GRAFTON UNDER THE NEW TIER 2 RESTRICTIONS

We will start back in the new Tier 2 by using the same bubbles that we did for the first Phase 2 squash played at the club.

There is a major change in that ONLY SOCIALLY DISTANCED SQUASH can be played by people in the same squash bubble. If you are not in the same squash bubble you CANNOT go on court together. Only 2 exceptions to this - 1) if you are in the same household/support bubble you can play full games, or 2) you can play socially distanced squash with a squash coach.

If you belonged to a previous squash bubble and don’t intend to play then please withdraw by contacting me ("harry.parkes@kcl.ac.uk") to allow others to join. If you would like change bubbles or join a bubble for the first time, then also contact me. For people wishing to join a bubble for the first time please send me the following information with the heading “SQUASH BUBBLES YOUR NAME” – please respond in the correct manner or your email risks being ignored.

If you want to be placed into a Squash Bubble starting on December 5th then please send me the information below by 10 am on Thursday 3rd December.

NAME – Joe Bloggs

ABILITY LEVEL – this is mainly for players who have joined recently OR have not previously played in the leagues – please rate 1-10 where; 1 county level, 2 team player, 3 highly experienced, 4 experienced, 5 good intermediate, 6 intermediate, 7 weak intermediate, 8 good beginner, 9 – beginner, 10 – total beginner. I will try as best I can to match up all players in a bubble to a similar standard.

AVAILABILITY – weekdays 10am-5pm (D), evenings 5-9pm ( E ), weekends ( W ) – for example you can write “ DEW ” if you are available at all times (this doesn’t mean you can always play at any time but simply means that you are often available to play) or “ W ” if you can only play at weekends. I am especially keen to match up “ D ” players so that we can make full use of the court time.

FREQUENCY – how often do you intend to play per week in December, 4-5 times would be very high with 1-0 at the bottom end. This will enable me to match players who want to play more or less games.

I will look for feedback on the success of the bubbles and may introduce some changes at the end of December.

As a reminder, you CANNOT go on court with anyone outside your bubble (household/ support or squash).

Hopefully, the new Tier 2 squash will allow us to get back to being on court even if it means not playing full games.

Please contact me if you have any question.

Cheers, Harry

("harry.parkes@kcl.ac.uk")

What is a squash bubble?

A bubble consists of a maximum of six players. Players can only be part of one bubble at a time. Players within a squash bubble can only play socially distanced squash – see below:

· Only two players on court at one time, no doubles squash.
· Only socially distanced routines can be played. England Squash recommend playing ‘Sides’.
· Players must not touch the court walls or sit on the court floor whilst taking a break.

· If you want to switch bubbles, you must take a 7-day break from being on court before joining a different bubble. Remember that you cannot be on court with anyone outside your bubble!

The same protocols on court usage, such as starting on the hour and finishing after 45 mins allowing 15 mins for the court to be empty before the next players arrive, cleaning the door handles, etc, are still important.
