OFFICIAL OPENING AT OKTOBERFEST (Sat 6 October, from 5pm)

As summer slowly draws to a close, the Grafton Oktoberfest gets nearer and nearer. This year it takes on an added significance. Providing the works continue as planned we’ll have new clay courts and floodlights to celebrate.

5pm will mark the start of the first ever Super Social Tennis Session on the new courts, and as the light fadesthere will be a lighting ceremony for the new floodlights.

Following Social Tennis, you’ll find the bar fully stocked with a variety of German beers and wines, a German buffet on offer, fun games, music and a late licence.

To ensure we order enough food and drink please sign up at the bar and / or accept this Facebook invite.

Bring an Oktoberfest hat and come down for what will be a momentous night!!!

CLAY COURT DAILY MAINTENANCE

We are excited to announce that we now have artificial clay on courts 5 - 8 and we hope that you will enjoy many hours of tennis on this quality, new playing surface.

To get the most out of our new courts, there are some essential tasks that must be carried out after each period of play. They only take a few minutes and are painless.

Located at the ends of the courts hanging on the fences, there are drag mats and line brushes. It is recommend that drag mats are used after each set. Line brushes are only used when required. And yes! You'd better believe we've attached a PDF to help explain...!

It is every player's responsibility to do these simple tasks when leaving the court after play, so that the courts are left in a good condition ready for the next people and prolong the overall life of the surface.

When leaving the courts through either of the gates into Courts 5 or 8, it is absolutely imperative that players vigorously brush their shoes on the mats to remove the clay and stop it ultimately ending up in the clubhouse. The mats are designed to collect the clay so they can be periodically emptied back onto the court.

In addition to the above, there are some other things which we all need to do:

Do not use brooms to clear leaves off the courts (mainly courts 5 + 8). There will be a leaf blower for this purpose.
Do not leave any rubbish (including ball can lids, chewing gum) on the courts. There will be bins in place to leave rubbish.
Tennis shoes only are to be worn/ no trainers.

Guys-- this (incredibly) is the abbreviated version. If you need or want further instructions we've attached a PDF, and can forward you, upon request, a video too. Happy days!
