NEW CCTV / LIVE COURT STREAMING

As part of various technical upgrades to the club planned for the coming months, we are pleased to announce we now have a new CCTV camera installed above court 2. This will stream live footage of the courts 24 hours a day. We are not recording any footage, so you can’t use it to settle line calls. Sorry.

The camera is predominantly aimed at court 2 and can only be moved by the computer behind the bar and not remotely. In general it will be set to its widest angle, covering most of the courts but realistically you’ll only be able to follow games on court 2 and maybe 3.

This is an experiment, other clubs have on-court cameras which have proved popular by members, and we wanted to try and see if our members liked it too. Please let us know what you think.

You can access the camera by clicking on the following link.

We are required by law to inform people we have CCTV in operation and will be putting up various signage over the next few days. Remember the camera will only covers the courts and not the clubhouse, or car park.

As well as providing added security to the club, it also has the additional benefit of allowing us to stream summer championship matches and other LIVE events. This will not prevent Murray from his audio commentary, sorry.

If you would like further information or have any questions please email the committee : graftoncommittee@gmail.com.

GRAFTON CUP - ENTRIES NOW OPEN

The countdown is officially now on! We are just over a month away from this year’s Grafton Cup and entries are now welcome to graftoncup@gmail.com.

What is the Grafton Cup?
It is the premier one-day doubles tournament that can’t be missed. We start the day with four round-robin groups before progressing to Cup, Plate and Saucer knock-out tournaments and so there’s something for everyone, regardless of standard of play. Everyone is guaranteed six sets of tennis (more if you’re lucky enough to reach the finals!) and so it is a full-day tournament.

When is it?
This year we are holding the Grafton Cup on Saturday 15 June. Play will start at 1000 SHARP, which means you should arrive at 0930 to register and warm up. The Group Stages normally run until about 1400, with the finals taking place about 1800. The bar will be open throughout so we hope everyone will stick around to crown the Cup/Plate/Saucer victors.

Who can enter?
Any Grafton member is welcome to enter, either as a pair or singly - we would be happy to match up doubles pairings for the day.

What does it cost?
Entries cost £10 per person but this covers your entry fee, balls for the day and a sandwich lunch. Money will be collected on the day.

How do we enter?
Email graftoncup@gmail.com (please cc in your partner if you’re entering as a pair) but don’t hang around. Email any questions to the same address; we will get back to you as soon as we can.

The Grafton Cup ALWAYS sells out well before the big day so what are you waiting for?
