NEWSLETTER - TIER 4 GRAFTON (Week of 21 Dec 2020)

Greetings Graftonites,

Yes, a brand new tier has been created for us, and of course this week's newsletter features the new rules and regulations that we've now put in place. It doesn't make for the most uplifting of Christmas bulletins...

Fear not, Graftonites! We're working on a few small things to keep us entertained over the holiday season, as we know that for many of us our festive plans have been totally scuppered. Keep an eye on the Whatsapp groups for further information (links below).

We'd like to take this opportunity to express our deepest thanks for all your support and understanding throughout this very challenging year. So many of you have helped organise events, come up with suggestions, been extremely flexible and helped navigate the club through these choppy waters with a wonderful, warm attitude. A simple thanks is honestly not enough.

2021 will be better, and your club will be back better than ever !

We wish all our members a very happy and safe festive period!!! Please read carefully this week's broadcast, and as mentioned, keep an eye on the different Whatsapp groups for informal updates over the holiday season.

COVID-19 TIER 4 UPDATE

With London now under Tier 4 Covid-19 restrictions. The following changes to play and club accessibility now apply:

Tennis

Singles only play is permissible; the only exemption being doubles between members of the same household.
If your surnames are different but all belong to the same household, please email graftoncomms@gmail with at least 72 hours notification to ensure your doubles booking isn't cancelled.
All team practice and social sessions are cancelled until further notice.
Further updates on competitions will follow as required.

Squash

The squash courts are closed until further notice.
If squash-only members would like to book a tennis court please join the ‘ squennis ’ Whats-App group for further details using the following link : https://chat.whatsapp.com/BQgmIO3vYwF05HfmxBj59M

Club House and Toilets

The toilets are closed until further notice.
The light tokens machines remain the only accessible area of the club house.

Stay Safe

As always please take extra care to abide by all COVID-19 safety guidelines. These are now more important than ever.

COVID-19 TRACK AND TRACE

It is absolutely imperative that ALL members follow the club's track and trace rules.

  • Always add all your opponents to all your bookings
  • Always scan in using the NHS track and trace QR codes located on the court gates and doors
  • Always sanitise your hand before and after you play- no exceptions.

It is our shared responsibility to help keep each other safe. Last week we unfortunately had to implement the club’s Track and Trace policy. This is detailed below for reference.

On notification of a confirmed positive Covid-19 case at the club, members who are suspected to have come into contact with the infected individual will be contacted by email asking them to:

  • follow any self-isolation notifications issued by the NHS Track and Trace system
  • refrain from attendance at the club should they develop COVID-19 symptoms
  • let all their opponents know about the situation before booking and playing a match
  • be extra vigilant with respect to the club's Covid-19 policy and government guidelines

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. More information is a available here;

MOSS TREATMENT (21/22 December)

Please note that the hard courts will be power-washed and treated for moss on 21/22 December.

The courts will be playable on the Monday evening and the hope is that the job will be completed in one day. If so, the Tuesday daytime courts will be unblocked.
Here's yet another reason to sanitise your hands before and after playing, as they use heavy-duty vinegar to treat the moss.
