EUROS ON THE BIG SCREEN
The start of June signals the start of the Euros! We will be showing many of the biggest matches over the course of the tournament in the new clubhouse on the big screen.
To kick off, we have lined up England's group games (below) which need registration in advance due to social distancing measures as higher numbers are expected.
You can register now in the Tournaments section within MyCourts. You'll be required to pay £5 when you register to secure your place, but this does include a free drink!
Sun 13th, @2pm - England v Croatia on the big screen. French Open Men's Final will be available in the bar.
Tues 22nd @8pm - England v Czech Republic
FRENCH OPEN SOCIAL / LADIES’ FINAL – (Sat 12 June @1pm)
The ladies' final will be shown live on the big screen from 2pm. To accompany this some courts have been made available for social tennis.
Come along to courts 2,3,6,7 from 1pm to play some social tennis, then put your feet up and raise a glass to help celebrate this prestigious final.
AMERICAN DOUBLES - (Sat 29 June @2pm)
American Doubles is a friendly doubles tournament for everyone. You play 7 games of doubles then switch partner. The player who wins the most games after 8 or so rotations wins a massive Grafton-style prize. The emphasis is very much on fun. If you’re new to the club it’s a great way to meet other members!
The bar will very much be open to ensure the later games are played before a spirited and boisterous crowd!
£10 entry includes a sweepstake, prizes and other goodies.

GRAFTON VEGGIES
Have you ever wanted to grow your own veg? Now’s your chance. Help is required to establish and maintain a plot in the area adjoining court 4, reclaiming some of the wood.
We have a hardcore group ready to go but if you’d like to assist please contact Murray

We need commitment and ideally expertise. There will be plenty of digging, weeding, watering and nurturing to do!
SQUASH BOOKING RULES
When you book a court please add in an opponent - there are 3 choices:
1) enter the name of a Grafton member,
2) enter ***solo squash practice, or
3) enter ***SQUASH GUEST £5 (the guest must also sign the Guest sign in sheet on the token machine when they arrive).
Please note that if you do not have an opponent booked within 24h of your booking
you risk having your booking deleted
. Also, if you bring in a guest then you are the one to play with that guest - guests can only play with members . You cannot bring in 2 or more guests and they play with each other - this is not allowed!
***Please note we still have to carry out some anti-covid measures. This means that you still have to apply social distancing when not on court, you should still sanitise your hands on entering and leaving the squash court area, and not wipe your hands on the squash court walls. If you are on the balcony watching squash you should wear a face mask.***
TENNIS COURT BOOKING RULES
Hopefully most of us are now familiar with the pandemic tennis booking rules. Still, here they are again. If for whatever reason you have to cancel a court please try to do so as early as possible. If it has to be a last minute cancellation, then please put a message on The Grafton Chronicle Whatsapp chat, so someone else can make the most of that court. All bookings, including last minute bookings, need to comply with the below rules:
> Please state your opponent on your bookings. If you're practising your serve please choose "Serving Practice" as your "opponent".
*** Serving Practice is an off-peak only activity.***
> All bookings with no opponents selected 72 hours in advance of play will be cancelled
> Guest bookings are not permitted in peak hours

1600-2200 Peak
WEEKENDS:
0800-1600 Peak
1600-2200 Off Peak

COVID REMINDERS
Let's remember to pack a face mask, and to scan the QR code from the NHS Covid-19 app every single time we're at the club. Social distancing and frequent use of hand sanitiser still need to be our watch words. Face masks are obligatory when in the kitchen, heading to the unisex toilets or indoors.
