NEWSLETTER - Christmas Party, Raffle and Safety (Week of 6 December 2021)

Greetings Graftonites,

We once again urge everyone to do their part in keeping fellow club members safe in the run-up to the holiday season. We ask that you please wash your hands before and after your games. If that's not possible, to at least sanitise your hands before and after your games. If you've forgotten to bring hand sanitiser with you, there's always plenty available at the bar and in the clubhouse. Please also remember to scan the Covid-19 QR code. Thank you everyone for helping out!

Speaking of helping out, this week the clay courts were serviced. This just to give you a flavour of the many factors, both great and small, that go into running and maintaining Grafton. In this season of giving we hope that a few people may be able to give even a small portion of time to help out around the club. Contact the Committee if interested!

These are the items in this week's newsletter, so do read on:

- CHRISTMAS PARTY AND COVID
- CHRISTMAS RAFFLE
- SPRING TERM TENNIS
- SOCIAL COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
- COURT BOOKING RULES
- DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

***If you want to put an announcement in next Monday’s broadcast, the only way to do so is by sending your broadcast to graftoncomms@gmail.com by Friday 6pm.***

ChHRISTMAS PARTY AND COVID

With less than a week to go until the Christmas party, we want to ensure everyone feels as comfortable as possible attending. For those coming, we strongly encourage you to take a lateral flow test in the 24-48 hours beforehand and if you are feeling any symptoms at all, please do not come.

Similarly, if you live with someone who has symptoms or is awaiting a test result, please exercise caution and don't come. If you do need to pull out, you will be refunded your ticket amount. We won't be at full capacity as we first thought a few months ago, which will help with distancing. There will likely be members at the Christmas party who for one reason or another may be more vulnerable to Covid so please consider everyone's situation.

Thanks for your understanding and look forward to seeing you there!

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

Santa's (Murray's) favourite time of year - the Christmas raffle. We will be drawing the raffle at the Christmas party, but tickets are now available at the bar to buy beforehand so it is open to everyone. Tickets are £1 for one, or 12 for £10. As usual there is a wide selection of prizes on offer including 2x £50 bottle of bubbly, tennis & squash lessons, £25 Clapham Picturehouse voucher, malt whiskey, chocolates, more alcohol etc. Remember, all raffle contributions go to charity and this year we will be supporting Ace of Clubs in Clapham which provides support for the homeless. If anyone would like to contribute something to the raffle, there is still time - please let Murray Sutton and Sarah Dickinson know.

2022 SOCIAL COMMITTEE- VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

With 2022 approaching, it’s time to invite nominations for next year’s social committee. We are looking for volunteers to help organise existing Grafton events but also organise additional ones to increase the social calendar eg; go-karting, pub crawls, new tournament days etc. We are looking for up to ten members across both tennis and squash. If you’re interested in playing an active role in the club, bring ideas, help organise or lead your own events to continue Grafton’s great social scene, please email or message Sarah Dickinson (sarahfd77@hotmail.com) by Friday 10th December . The time commitment over the course of the year isn’t significant - although more willing volunteers are always welcomed!
