NEWSLETTER - WINTER MIXED IS ON AGAIN (Week of 18 October 2021)

Greetings Graftonites,

It's not often that we use poetry in our newsletter but it's only fit and right that we quote the words of the great 16th century French poet Couz de Gar:

The land is freezing
The daisies are fading
The bamboos are resisting
It is time for… winter mixing!

As you may have guessed, this week we announce the Winter Mixed tournament! There are also other items in this week's newsletter, so do read on:

- WINTER MIXED IS BACK
- AUTUMN HALF TERM SQUASH
- CHRISTMAS PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT
- RECYCLING TENNIS BALLS
- COURT BOOKING RULES
- DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

***If you want to put an announcement in next Monday’s broadcast, the only way to do so is by sending your broadcast to graftoncomms@gmail.com by Friday 6pm.***

THE WINTER MIXED IS JABBED AND BACK

For the benefit of the numerous new members, the Grafton winter mixed tournament is played in the dark months of the year but brightened by social activities/fun/un-seriousness and bonkers bonus points.

The format in a nutshell:
You’ll have two matches to play per month for four months (November to February), before we move to quarters/semis/finals.

You are guaranteed 10 doubles match, plus a day of fun on Finals day – when everyone plays (SAY WHAT? Yeah! Everyone plays on Final Day , so makes sure it is in your diary 26 March 2022 .)

More on the format and how it works to come soon. In the meantime please grab (not literally) a partner and register on MyCourts. Two options

· You have a partner - one of you can go on my court and register the pair for £10.

· You don’t have a partner but want to play – not a problem email us at graftonmixed@gmail.com and we will help you find one.

Play will kick start on 1 November so will need all entries by 29th October .

A reminder to recycle decent tennis balls into the bins on court 1, the patio and out back. They are worth 15p each which can then amount to a chunky donation to charitable causes. Thanks
