LATE CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOWS

Please see attached FAQ's about the upcoming implementation of late cancellations and no-shows monitoring.

From 31st March the following will apply (subject to change):

Late Cancellations

Members cancelling a court within 24hrs of the booking start time twice within a 4-week rolling period will be subject to a 1 week booking restriction.

For tennis, late in time switching from a hard court to a clay court will be permissible without triggering a ‘late cancellation’

No-Shows

To avoid a ‘no-show’ booking classification, booking ‘owners’ or an ‘opponent’ will be required to ‘Check-in’ for all bookings 45mins before to 30 mins after the start time. Check-in will be performed using screen-kiosks to be located within the squash court building and club house, or using a mobile device whilst on the club’s premises. More information to follow on the use of MyCourts mobile device GPS check-in.

Check-in will not be required for any bookings made within 5 mins of the booking start time (e.g. a court switch).

Booking owners with 2 ‘no-shows’ within a 4-week rolling period will be subject to a booking restriction.

GPS Check is now active in MyCourts for membership familiarisation. No-shows will not be monitored until 1st March. You'll find this at the top of you MyCourts menu on your mobile device. There many be some 'location settings' you need to apply on your device to get this working. Full details on MyCourts.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATES (Applicable 1 April 2025)

Following a ‘freeze’ over the last few years and there will be moderate rise in membership fees applied to tennis-based renewals from 1st April. Full details are attached.

Peak Time Tennis Waitlist Management

We have implemented a few changes to the management of the Peak Tennis waitlist. Currently there are approximately 300 people on that waitlist, so unfortunately no more "external" peak-time tennis applications will be accepted until further notice. That is, going forwards, and until further notice, we will only accept peak-time tennis applications from Graftonites who are currently on an off-peak tennis membership.

Off-Peak Tennis Applications

With court pressure continuing to be high, off-peak membership admissions will now be processed on a one-in one-out basis. A waitlist will also be put in place.

Squash Membership Fees

Due to the expected disruption to the squash building as we carry out renovation works, squash-only membership fees will remain frozen for the duration of this year.

LET'S LOOK AFTER OUR CLUB

This item is directed at each and every one of us. We each have a responsibility to look after Grafton and we should not expect others to bear the brunt for us.

Let's try to keep Grafton clean and tidy. Please put all rubbish in the bins in the kitchen. Glasses in the dishwasher/kitchen. Remove rubbish from the squash and tennis courts. Put used balls in the bins provided. If you have moved furniture, please put it back to where it belongs. This, of course, is not an exhaustive list.

Thanks everyone for lending a helping hand!

COURT BOOKING RULES - TENNIS AND SQUASH

We ask you to be mindful of our booking rules which are designed to help everyone have a fair chance of playing, and to be able to play safely.

CANCELLING YOUR MATCH = CANCELLING YOUR COURT

As soon as you decide to cancel your match or realise you will not be able to play - please cancel your court. It is crucial for non-daylight hours tennis bookings, when floodlights activate automatically.

If you have to cancel a court, please try to do so as early as possible. If it has to be a last-minute cancellation, then please put a message on The Grafton Chronicle or Squash WhatsApp chat, so someone else can make the most of that court.

OPPONENTS AND GUESTS

All bookings, including last minute bookings, need to comply with the below rules:

Please state ALL your opponents on your bookings. If practising on your own please select “Serving Practice" or “Solo Practice" as your "opponent". Note these bookings are only permitted during off-peak hours.

Squash and tennis guests are only permitted during off-peak hours.

Bookings with no opponents selected within 72hrs in advance of play will be cancelled.
