Grafton Handicap Trophy 2025 – Welcome & Important Tournament Information

Dear Players,

I hope you are well and ready for the start of the 2025 Grafton Handicap Trophy.

Firstly, thank you for entering. With 38 participants, including several new players, this year’s tournament is set to be one of the most engaging editions so far . Your participation is a vital sign of how strong and active our squash community is.

Important Notes for All Players

1. Match Arrangements
Players are responsible for arranging their matches within the deadlines for each round. I will support where possible, but it is essential that everyone helps keep the competition running smoothly.

2. Match Priority
Handicap Trophy matches take priority over friendlies or league games during the competition period.

3. Court Availability
Alongside off-peak windows, some evening slots will be reserved exclusively for tournament matches and labelled “ 2025 Handicap Trophy .”
If you wish to use one of these slots, please contact me directly.

Players who can play off-peak are encouraged to do so to allow court access for those with more limited availability.

4. Handicap System & the Spirit of the Competition
A reminder of the nature of a handicap event:

A handicap tournament is intentionally designed to be challenging — for everyone!
• Stronger players must show resilience and mental discipline to overcome the initial points deficit.
• Players starting with a positive advantage must manage the pressure of being “ahead” and remain focused throughout.

This dynamic is exactly what creates the excitement, unpredictability, and fairness that define the Handicap Trophy.
Please keep this in mind as the competition progresses.

5. Tournament Rules
Please review the attached rules before beginning your matches.

Match Schedule & Deadlines:

  • The detailed match schedule can be found within the tournament draw.
  • The first six matches (Round 1) must be completed by 30 November.
  • Second-round matches of the main draw may be played immediately.
  • The second-round deadline is 21 December.

If you have any questions or require any assistance, feel free to contact me.

Wishing you all a fantastic competition — and the very best of luck as the 2025 Handicap Trophy gets underway.

Warm regards,
Marco Spinola
