NEWSLETTER- STAY ALERT, CONTROL THE VIRUS, SAVE LIVES (Week of 18 May 2020)

Greetings Graftonites,

It’s been wonderful seeing so many of you gracing the courts again this week, rediscovering lost skills and hearing balls being hit, at times even choosing to strike the ball with strings rather than frame. However we were disappointed to see a few slip-ups with arrangement of non-house doubles sessions and / or booking courts for non-members. The health and safety of our members is our top priority. Following government and LTA guidelines is the very least we can do, so please read on:

- RESPECTING LTA GUIDELINES
- TENNIS COACHING

***If you want to put an announcement in next Monday’s broadcast, the only way to do so is by sending your broadcast to graftoncomms@gmail.com by Friday 6pm.***

RESPECTING LTA GUIDELINES

A reminder of the guidelines is below, as well as a useful link to LTA advice.

We’ve had to put these in place primarily to maintain social distancing and, to make sure everyone on court is aware of the requirements needed for safe play.

Thank you all for the patience as we await further easing of these, in what we hope will be the not-to-distant future.

PLAYING TENNIS AT GRAFTON : GUIDELINES

• Please respect social distancing rules in all areas;

• All courts must be pre-booked using the mycourts booking system. Please leave 10mins before the end of your booking. Don't arrive at the club in the hope of securing a court;

• Play is limited to club members only for singles, or doubles providing all players are from the same household. (Club facilities aren't available to guests at this time);

• All players should bring adequate hand sanitisers, wipes and drinking water for use before, during and after play;

• Avoid touching your face and try not to touch any surfaces;

• Consider using your own personal marked tennis balls when serving. Avoid picking-up stray ball up from other courts (kick them back);

• Wear gloves when handling net height levers and clay court sweepers. Cleaning spray is available on court;

• Players are advised not to change ends during play;

• Ensure that there is no physical contact at all between players ;

• Play should take place during daylight hours. Floodlights will not be available;

• Once play has finished players should leave the club promptly;

• No other ‘extra-curricular’ or social activities should take place. Please do not bring your own post-match drinks;

First aid kits will be available near the rear entrance of the club house. Further advice is available here:
