It’s an exciting week with the first major finals of the year taking place. Details of the Squash Handicap semi-finals and final are below.

SQUASH HANDICAP SEMI FINALS AND FINALS

The semi-finals and finals of the “Handicap Trophy” are taking place soon....

The semi-finals will take place next Wednesday the 26th from 7pm onwards, and the finals on Sunday the 30th from 5.30pm, both during the Squash Socials, Please come down and support our Semi-finalists and finalists, and celebrate this years tournament in the bar agerwards !

THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD CREW ...ON A MISSION

Some of you may have noticed brambles disappearing, thistles retreating, signs looking fresher, and courts free of leaves.

This is entirely due to the amazing hard work of our resident Duke of Edinburgh Award team

REMINDER - SOCIAL SQUASH IS NOW CASHLESS BUT REGISTRATION IS NEEDED!

Before coming to the Club’s Socials on Wednesday or Sunday please proceed to your Registration and payment via by MyCourts:

It’s a simple process ladies and gents

  • Top up your club account - MyCourts ‘Your Account’ menu option
  • Register for your selected Social(s) - Mycourts ‘Tournament’ menu option

Bookings can be made and cancelled at any time, and all major cards are accepted.

This allow us to control who’s coming in order to avoid overcrowded situations and also to ensure names are known in the current pandemic situation. Please make sure you comply to this request before coming to the Club’s Socials and we hope to see you all in court!

WINTER BAR OPENING HOURS

The following opening hours will apply until April,

Monday - Thursday 6:30pm - 11pm

Ad-hoc opening outside of these hours our hardy Bar volunteers may no doubt be on hand to pour a few bevies so keep an eye open.

New bar volunteers are always very welcome. Just let us know by e-mailing graftonparties@gmail.com

COURT BOOKING RULES - TENNIS AND SQUASH

In the spirit of Grafton, we ask everyone to be mindful of our booking rules which are designed to help everyone have a fair chance of playing, and to be able to play safely.

If you have to cancel a court, please try to do so as early as possible. If it has to be a last-minute cancellation, then please put a message on The Grafton Chronicle or Squash WhatsApp chat, so someone else can make the most of that court. All bookings, including last minute bookings, need to comply with the below rules:

Please state your opponent on your bookings.
If practising on your own please select “Serving Practice" or “Solo Practice as your "opponent". Note these bookings are only permitted during off-peak hours.

All bookings with no opponents selected within 72 Hrs (tennis) or 48 Hrs (squash) in advance of play will be cancelled.

Please bear in mind the below hours:

WEEKDAYS:

08:00-16:00 Off Peak Tennis
16:00-22:00 Peak Tennis
08:00-17:15 Off Peak Squash
17:15 -21:00 Peak Squash

WEEKENDS:

08:00-16:00 Peak Tennis
16:00-22:00 Off Peak Tennis
All-day off peak squash

PEAK AND OFF- PEAK TENNIS ACTIVITIES

The below is particularly pertinent to off-peak tennis members, so please note:

SOCIAL TENNIS
Wednesday : Only Peak Tennis members may attend
Sunday: Peak and Off Peak Tennis members may attend

TENNIS TEAM PRACTICES
Monday / Tuesday / Friday / Weekends : Only Peak Tennis members may attend
Leagues and Tournaments: Only Peak Tennis members may participate
