NEWSLETTER - 7 Sleeps To Go (Week of 22 March 2021)

Greetings Graftonites,

Do you have a face mask in your tennis bag? Have you downloaded the NHS Covid-19 app? These are just some of the changes we'll need to make while we prepare to get ready to head back to the club from next week (!)

As we’re sure you’re aware, the club will be reopening on 29th March for Tennis and 12th April for Squash. There’s quite a bit of information to digest, but we ask all members to take the time to read the below thoroughly.

- THE RE-OPENING
- COVID 19 SAFETY MEASURES
- CLUB IMPROVEMENTS
- GRAFTON MEMBER ACCOUNTS
- TENNIS COURT BOOKING RULES
- DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

***If you want to put an announcement in next Monday’s broadcast, the only way to do so is by sending your broadcast to graftoncomms@gmail.com by Friday 6pm.***

THE RE-OPENING

It's vital that all members follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines. These are outlined below, alongside the activities that will be permitted upon reopening.

Tennis

- Singles and doubles play is permitted
- Social Tennis and Team Practice sessions will resume subject to social distancing rules
- Leagues / Tournaments will resume (announcements will follow in due course)

Squash

- More info to come following imminent updates from Squash England

The Club House and Bar

- Will remain closed until further notice
- The only accessible areas of the club house will be the unisex toilets and kitchen
- Access to the kitchen is strictly for the purpose of accessing tennis light boxes and purchasing light tokens ONLY
*** Face masks must be worn when accessing the unisex toilets and the kitchen***

We hope to resume an outdoor bar service in mid-April subject to our ability to implement government guidelines IN FULL once they are announced.

COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

- Scan the NHS Track and Trace QR code when entering the courts. This is vital when attending social or team practice sessions (sign the attendance book if you've forgotten your mobile)
- 2m+ Social distancing should be maintained at all times
- Use hand sanitiser before and after play (Sanitation stations are provided near the entrance to club house / tennis court 5 / Inside the squash building)
- Loitering on the club premises before or after play / spectating is prohibited
- Masks must be worn when accessing the kitchen or unisex toilets
- No Alcoholic beverages should be consumed on club grounds until further notice.

CLUB IMPROVEMENTS

Improvements to take note of for the resumption of play are below:

Light Tokens

A new tokens machine that handles card payments exclusively will be available in the kitchen. Tennis and squash tokens will be available to purchase in multiple quantities. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Note: Tennis Lights will remain free of charge until 31th May

GRAFTON MEMBER ACCOUNTS

MyCourts has been upgraded to give all members an individual Club Account. You will now see a ‘Your account’ section under the menu of your MyCourts login page. This will be the way for Graftonites to pay for all guest fees and to register / pay for all tournament entries. All major cards are accepted.

The system is extremely straight forward:

Add credit to your account using the option in the ‘Your Account’ menu
Book your Guest session by selecting ‘GUEST £5’ or 'SQUASH GUEST £5 as the case may be.

Or

Register for the tournament under the Tournaments section

Your account is automatically deducted the appropriate amount.

You can also transfer credit to other members (useful for doubles tournament entries)

Note: Unpaid accounts are prevented from further court bookings.

TENNIS COURT BOOKING RULES

A quick reminder of the court booking rules. Courts are already extremely busy so these are designed to maximise court availability during these very busy pandemic times:

· Peak hours are after 4pm on weekdays and before 4pm on weekends
-· Please state your opponent on your bookings. If you're practising your serve please choose "Serving Practice" as your "opponent"
- All bookings with no opponents selected 72 hours in advance of play will be cancelled (no reminders will be sent)
· Guest bookings are not permitted in peak hours

These are the same regulations as we had for large portions of last year, so hopefully these are just reminders. Questions? Please email graftoncomms@gmail.com well in advance of your court booking to avoid disappointment.
