SQUASH TEAMS - SURREY SUMMER CUP ROUND-UP

The Surrey Summer Cup (league) has come to a close, a season which spanned two heatwaves and some of the hottest playing conditions ever experienced! This didn’t hamper any of the 4 Grafton teams who all put in great performances and saw the second, third and ladies teams all topping their leagues! A big shout out to all those involved in the Grafton ladies team. This is the first time Grafton has entered a ladies team in over 20 years and long may it continue!

The 1st team battled hard in a highly completive division 4R and despite a mid season blip ended strongly to cement their place in the league for next season, a great achievement. The 2nd team started with a bang and never slowed down, convincingly topping division 6B with constant strong performances, earning promotion in the process. The 3rd team had a steady season and peaked at just the right time, winning division 7B in the final match of season by just 2 points! Last but not the least, the ladies team went undefeated and won division 3 by some margin. This will see them get promoted to division 2 next season, watch this space!

The 2nd and 3rd team will be taking part in the Surrey Summer Cup playoffs. This will be taking place on the Saturday 17th September at Purley Sports Club. The 2nds start at 4pm followed by the 3rds at 6pm. it would be great to see some Grafton support in the crowd and good luck to all involved.

Finally, the winter season will start before we know it (mid October). If you would like to get involved in the squash teams please drop Ashley Merchant an email @ ashleymerhant@outlook.com.
