- NEW LONG TERM MEMBERSHIP OFFERS

Dear Tennis Members

As we’re sure you can appreciate, tennis courts don't last forever. On close inspection the surface of courts 5-8 are already showing signs of significant degradation. We have been advised by contractors that we need to resurface the top courts ideally within the next 6-12 months (possibly artificial clay/tarmac).

The estimated cost is £50-90k depending on surface. In addition to normal club financing (to include the floodlighting of courts 1/2), to meet this extraordinary expenditure we will need additional stimulus. The cost of not addressing the resurfacing in 2018 would be significant. In a few years when the courts would become unplayable, the additional work required to make good the foundation surface is estimated to be up to £40K.

Grafton is situated in an area in which prospective members have a relatively wide choice of clubs to join. As many of you may be aware improvements are underway; we have financed the power upgrade required for the floodlighting of courts 1&2, and hope to have final installation at last complete in early 2018. However, it is clear a choice of well-maintained surfaces is rapidly becoming the norm for any forward-looking tennis club seeking to attract new membership and retain current members.
The upgrade of the back courts represents a large investment for the club which unfortunately simply cannot be covered by existing revenue streams.

We need to find innovative fund-raising solutions that represent both value to our membership and enable the club to move forward. With these aims in mind the committee have decided to offer all members the opportunity to purchase 5 and 10-year membership packages. These packages will be offered at current membership pricing levels and provide members the benefit of inflation-proofing their membership for the time period of the option they choose:

· 10 year Tennis Only Membership: £2500 (including complementary £150 bar tab)
· 5 Year Tennis Only Membership : £1250 (including complementary £100 bar tab)
· 10 year Tennis and Squash Membership: £3000 (including complementary £150 bar tab)
· 5 Year Tennis and Squash Membership : £1500 (including complementary £100 bar tab)

In order to somewhat safeguard the annual income of the club, a total of 30 packages will be made available.

The purchase of even one of these packages will go a long way to help keeping your club a vibrant, active, and most importantly enjoyable place in which to play tennis. We hope you’ll give these options very careful consideration.
